Reason #1 to KEEP a New Year's Resolution::

After work yesterday I headed out toward Mom & Dad's with a quick stop at John & Jamiee's before that.  I bought this cutest zebra coat::

at a little thrift store down the street from my house and wanted to see if it would fit one of the girls.  Isn't it sooo cute!  Needless to say the coat was a hit and now I am on the hunt for another that will actually fit Abbi - since this was a little more Jenna's size.

After a night with Mom & the girls I headed home at about 11:00 p.m. to sit right here at my computer until almost 2:00 a.m. yowza!

I did however find this::

That my friends, is a Waistband Expander!

Or what I like to call...Another Reason To Keep Your New Year's Resolutions!

crocheting...

When I start making toaster covers or sweaters for my cat (ha!) then an intervention will be necessary.  But until then I've decided I need to make more than scarves with my new found chrochet talent.
Mom, thanks again for teaching me...you created a monster!

With the paparazzi all over me about the ONE hat I made, it's hard to keep my head in the game.  Alas, I have got to get on with more of those and tomorrow Charley & I are headed to Michael's armed with coupons to purchase matching yarn to make Dad a hat to go with this fabulous scarf I just finished for him:

It is the softest yarn...dark gray, if you can't tell.  And I used 2 skeins of yarn, so it's like a zillion feet long.  It's uber cold in Ohio so I have to get that hat done ASAP!

In the mean time, since Michael's closes at night and Wal*Mart doesn't I picked up some new skeins and have started the "Baskin Robins Blanket":

Isn't that the cutest thing ever!?!  I am using that super huge hook, which I have never used before.  I think it's turning out really sweet.  I have a goal to make blankets/throws for ALL of my nieces & nephews, that's 12 so far.  I'm sure that Tanner & Andrew won't really care it, but they are getting one anyway!

I think this Baskin Robins Blanket is screaming JENNA!  Don't you agree?

If you belong to one of my nieces or nephews feel free to request a color, but keep it a secret...because everyone likes a surprise!  Maybe these can be birthday presents...what a great plan.  I'll get right on that.  Right after I scan the 3 family albums sitting on my desk.

I love projects, they keep my head from going where I can't deal.

You shut your mouth...

...it's 12:04 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan 28, 2009.

It was yesterday that I posted this:

And guess what?  The tape is still on the vending machine mouth!

I vow to not send forwards...

...so you get to read a really funny email that Lisa sent me:

Brian invited his mother over for dinner. During the course of the meal, Brian's mother couldn't help but notice how beautiful Brian's roommate, Jennifer, was. Brian's Mom had long been suspicious of the platonic relationship between Brian and Jennifer, and this had only made her more curious.

Over the course of the evening, while watching the two interact, she started to wonder if there was more between Brian and Jennifer than met the eye.

Reading his mom's thoughts, Brian volunteered, 'I know what you must be thinking, but I assure you, Jennifer and I are just roommates.'

About a week later, Jennifer came to Brian saying, 'Ever since your mother came to dinner, I've been unable to find the beautiful silver gravy ladle. You don't suppose she took it, do you?'

Brian said, 'Well, I doubt it, but I'll send her an e-mail just to be sure.' So he sat down and wrote:

*******************************************************************

Dear Mom,

I'm not saying that you 'did' take the gravy ladle from the house, I'm not saying that you 'did not' take the gravy ladle. But the fact remains that one has been missing ever since you were here for dinner.

Love, Brian

Several days later, Brian received an email back from his mother that read:
*******************************************************************

Dear Son,

I'm not saying that you 'do' sleep with Jennifer, I'm not saying that you 'do not' sleep with Jennifer. But the fact remains that if Jennifer is sleeping in her own bed, she would have found the gravy ladle by now.

Love, Mom

don't read this post!

I said don't read this post!

I am only posting this link so that I can enter twice.

There are too many of you, I know this from experience.  But I want the bag...stay away!

SCREAMING!!!

I was sitting in my office today when I heard SCREAMING from down the hall.  I ran quick like to see what was going on, but there was no one there.  That's when I realized it was that damned vending machine!

The screaming could have been my favorite snack.  You know them...those moist delicious chocolate cup cakes with the perfect twirls of white icing.  You see them right there in that stupid metal box.  Imagine them straight from the freezer...oh the joy!
NO, stop.  OH THE CALORIES AND FAT!
I had to shut them up!

No, I'm not kidding! And I left the tape there...no one else around here needs them either!

2009 Lunar New Year

My friend Malissa had a Chinese New Year/Lunar New Year Party last night and I decided I HAD to go in costume!  I asked my nail guy Chris where I could find an Oriental shirt and he said "go to China Town!"

I would like a raise of hands...who knew there was a China Town in Atlanta?

Yeah, me neither!

So there is...you take the Buford Highway exit off the north side of the perimeter and head south, you can't miss all the shops!

We had to stop at a few stores before we found what I was looking for, but we didn't give up and finally hit the jack pot.  The only problem now was finding an oriental shirt that would fit my girls!  I even teased Chris that there was no way a little Oriental girl was going to be my size, but he assured me I would find something...and I did!

The little Oriental lady measured me and made some size suggestions but none of them fit the girls...just as I had predicted.  Eventually her assistant found the perfect dress and although it was a gorgeous dress the slit was practically up to my wazoo and there was little to no chance I would wear a dress, especially to this party.  Since that was the only size they had that fit, Susan said she could cut it off for me and make it a shirt so I made the purchase.

Now I wouldn't normally spend a bunch of money on a dress just to cut it in half to make a shirt...JUST FOR A PARTY...but I knew I would wear this many times!  And hello, how many times have I needed an outfit just like this!?

It turned out really nice and I received a bazillion (that's short for a lot) when I wore it.

Susan took a picture of me with my camera phone last night, and although the resolution is horrible I wanted to show it because I had my hair done all Oriental-ish.

I decided that since all I did was sit around in the shirt last night, I could also wear it to church today!  (Oh zip it, you know you've done it a million times!)  Here is the picture from today...you can see the shirt a lot better in this pic:

Happy Lunar New Year!
Year of the OX!
Year of EXPERIENCES!

Dialog In The Dark...WOW!

Preface #1:  In the Orient it is the year of the Ox.  But on Planet Katherine...it is the year of EXPERIENCES!  That being said I have decided that for MY birthday I want to have EXPERIENCES with friends and loved ones, rather than receive gifts (...if you insist you may give me a gift too!)  And whenever possible I will treat those WITH birthdays to an experience as well.  The sad part comes for those that are far far away on Judea's plain...but I will work on something extra special for you.

Preface #2: I am not usually a fan of blog posts that just go on and on about an experience, but  without photos, however because of the subject of this post, I will only post one photo...at the end.

This past week was my good friend Susan's birthday.  We both have a lot going on during the week so we decided we would celebrate on Saturday.  I had a hard time thinking of something we could "experience" together, but then one night I was talking to Levi and asked him if he could get us into Dialog In The Dark.  I wasn't sure if it would be possible, but when he said he could I was THRILLED.

I invited our friend Jessa along for the "experience" and we managed to keep it a complete secret from Susan until literally about 15 minutes before we got there.  We were all so excited and a little nervous too.  Our tickets were at Will Call, just like Levi arranged and our group was small, only 6 of us + Peter...our guide.

Now, for those of you that don't know what Dialog In The Dark is, just click on the link and take five seconds to read all about it...

one one thousand
two one thousand
three one thousand
four one thousand
five one thousand

OK, are you back?  Excellent...now you understand!

So...off we went, on our own visually impaired experience, it was truly amazing!  And just in case you are wondering, when they say "complete darkness" they really mean COMPLETE darkness.

Everyone has their own cane and you start out in a room sitting on these lighted cubes and while the first instructions are given the cubes start to get dim until eventually the room is pitch black! Then your guide introduces himself and starts to explain what happens next.

I don't want to spoil it for anyone that will venture out for their own experience (and you ALL should!) but I will say this, being the first one to walk into the first room I literally wanted to get on my knees and thank my Heavenly Father for my sight the moment I was away from my no longer lit box.

You get to go through a few different environments and touch, smell and hear everything as you would if you were blind.  I would say "visually impaired", but this was truly an experience being completely blind...no light!

My other senses were almost instantly heightened and I started to appreciate more and more the fact that I could hear, smell and touch.  There were no lights...none.  And although Peter (who was an amazing guide) was there with us the entire time, I started to get very frustrated toward the end.  At one point we were sitting in a cafe and I knew there were people across from me...I could hear them, but I was feeling so frustrated that I couldn't see them.  And when other groups came into the cafe it got noisier and I got more and more frustrated because I had a harder and harder time hearing Peter, Paul, Laura, Peggy, Jessa & Susan (yeah, you get to know your group by name very quickly and you even start to notice their touch as you walk and stumble together).

Peter even suggested that the next time we are sitting in a busy restaurant we just close our eyes for a moment.  I'm not sure how quickly I will try this, since as I sat at the cafe I wanted to run over and flip the light switch so badly I could hardly stand it...and there WAS NO LIGHT SWITCH TO FLIP!

Eventually we walked out and we got to literally "see" Peter, but he couldn't "see" us...it was such an indescribable experience, one I will never forget.

Jessa, Susan and I really had an amazing experience in the dark.
Thank you Levi!

Katherine (me), Jessa & Susan
...after our Dialog In The Dark experience

Who's up next for their very own experience?!

Paige...we missed you, but sure enjoyed meeting you & Amelia for lunch at Sweet Tomatoes!

Charley's Frilly Pink Dress...

Back when Charley had her first photo shoot I bought her this cute little pink frilly dress for her.

Last week when I was over at her house Kelly and I were perusing through Charley's closet and we saw the dress.  It just has these little spaghetti straps and when it's warm enough for her to wear it, she will certainly have outgrown it...so we had a spontaneous photo shoot with my camera phone:

Oh the paparazzi!

She is so stinking cute!
Maybe Charley's sister can get some use out of this little dress.

NO!  That is not an announcement for Kelly & Justin, just an assumption that there will be a 2nd child and given the boy vs. girl ratio in our family...it's a good assumption it will be a girl.

Tagged (again) QUIRKS!

Monika "QUIRK" tagged me.  It seems pretty simple, you list your top 5 quirks, so here we go:

1)  BLINKERS: I hate the sound of blinkers.  I don't know if this qualifies as a quirk, but I'm saying it does.  Sometimes I am driving down the road and I see that someone has forgotten their blinker is still on and I just cringe!  I can't imagine listening to that...blink...blink...blink...blink...blink.

2)  NAPS:  I can't take naps.  The last time I remember taking a TRUE nap was the Sunday after Nicole's wedding reception.  The girls had all gathered at Megan's apartment to watch a movie or an OSU football game or something and I remember Megan gave me a t-shirt (which I still have...oops & thanks!) and some pants and I crashed in her dark bedroom while they all chilled in the living room.  I was literally asleep for hours!

3)  BABY SHAMPOO: Some people pay hundreds of dollars a year for product to wash their face.  Not me!  I wash my face every night with BABY SHAMPOO.  Go ahead, scrunch your face up and think I'm weird...and when you get finished trying it shoot me an email to say "thanks".  I can't take all the credit, a few years ago an ophthalmologist suggested I do this because my eyes secrete too many oils.  The plus is...with the pH of (close to) water it is so gentle on the eyes and removes make up like a dream!

4)  SHOES: Call it a quirk, or call me a woman, but I love shoes! Someone asked me once how many pairs of heels I owned and I told them, "not that many, really!"  But tonight I actually counted.  27 pair of "heels"...one or two might be a more normal shoe, but most of those are right up there with amazing!

5)  CHOCOLATE: Monika & Charisse both have issues with cheap ice cream, and although I share their desire for delicious frozen dairy, my cheap factor falls to chocolate.  My biggest issue is with Hershey...yuck!  Yes, occasionally (when dying in the desert) I have to indulge in the plastic brown look-a-like known as Hershey fake-a-lot, but give me a true piece of chocolate any day...and make it dark!  Dark is better for you anyway!

5.1)  SPOON vs. FORK:  You know when you order dessert at a restaurant and they bring you a clean spoon?  (You never eat dessert?  Oh, right...me too...never!)  But if I did...I have to ask for a fork.  There is just something about eating a brownie with ice cream or a piece of cake with a spoon...that bugs the crud out of me!  It must be the part where I have to dig my upper lip into the canyon of the spoon to get all the good stuff...with a fork you can eat like a lady and enjoy your dessert too.

And I TAG...
 - Nicole (your quirks lady...not your beautiful babies)
 - Kim (girl...I know you are quirky)
 - Heather (it may be tough, but I know you have one or two)
 - Shannon (you are quirky luirky lady...tell us all about it!)
 - Megan (...what is that?  You don't have a blog?!  Shock & AW!  Guess you better start one!)

...and anyone else that wants to share!

6 & 6 Photo Tag

Lisa 6 & 6 Photo Tagged me...yes, I made up the name all on my own!

You know the routine, you go to the 6th folder in your photos folder on your pc and choose the 6th photo within that folder.  Oh, and you tell the story behind that photo.

Here is mine:

This is a temporary structure that was built over a pool in a community north of Atlanta.  A friend of mine works for the manufacturer of this structure and was not able to be in town when it was completed so he asked me to run by and take some photos.  I do like how the sun shines in this one.  Temporary structures has sort of been my life for the past 7ish years so if you never understood what I was talking about, now you know.

And for my final act, I TAG:

Anne ~ because you need to blog something already
Jo ~ because I am guessing you have an interesting photo in your 6 & 6
Monika ~ because I am paying you back for the previous tag, which I am still contemplating
Heidi ~ because hello...where are you!?!
Charisse ~ because I am hoping in your 6 & 6 there is a picture of a dummy

...and anyone else that wants to play along!  Because THIS is what makes blogs more interesting!

Happy Birthday Big Sis!

AN INCREDIBLY COOL THING HAPPENED...

Tonight I received an email from Joel Myers at WonderHowTo.com.  Here is what he had to say:

Hi Katherine,

Thanks for the WonderHowTo mention on your blog. I actually noticed that 54 people searched WHT for “chrochet a beanie” yesterday; then I found your post on the Internet and put two and two together. Anyhow, I made a little (120x120) widget in honor of you, feel free to put it on your blog or not:

* see widget on my right side column *

It’s a little caption of the video you used, it says, “Be Like Katherine” on top and “Crochet a beanie cap” below. Also, in the next few months we will begin having somewhat “known” people from around the Internet writing text how-tos for WHT. I wonder if you would be interested in writing one on how to crochet a beanie cap?

Have a great weekend.

Best,

Joel Myers

Wow, right!  How cool is that!?!?  I am super excited and WAY shocked that 54 of you READ MY BLOG much less that you linked in to WonderHowTo.com ~ incredible!

And the widget!  So cool.  It's right over there on the right...see!?!

As for writing a text "how to" I will have to see.  School has me bogged down, but this could be great fun.  I am just not quite sure I actually know how to make a beanie.  I am afraid my "how to" would say "if you want to make a beanie cap go here: link" and there you would have it.  We'll see though...seriously, so fun & exciting!

OH, but my original statement still applies...don't make it, buy it from ME (eventually).

Beanie Cap a la Katherine

A few months ago I needed a fabulous idea for a birthday present for a good "friend" so I asked mom to teach me how to crochet a scarf.  The "friend" lives in Cold Weather Country, so I figured a scarf was appropriate and not too corny of a gift.

Fast forward and I have made a number of scarves and recently received a skein of yarn as a "gift" (no comment) and had no idea what to make with it.  It easily takes 2 (and sometimes 3) skeins of yarn to make a scarf (depending on how tall the person is) but I didn't want to waste the gift and definitely wanted something to show for it.

I am not sure if it was a suggestion or just my own brilliant mind that thought of a beanie cap, but either way that was the plan.

Problem #1: I didn't know how to make a beanie cap.
Problem #2: I (still) don't know how to read a crochet pattern.

I am a big fan of this woman, and the only suggestion I have is that she use a yarn color that is a little easier to see.

So...how did my beanie cap turn out, you ask?
..........

.

Oh, you know I can't miss a chance for a photo opp!

I don't suggest you run out to Michael's/Hobby Lobby/Wal*Mart/craft store of choice and pick up some yarn so you can make your own...because then who will buy the ones I am going to make and eventually sell.  But IF you have some yarn sitting around AND a perfectly good pair of working hands that you want to burn like they are on fire...knock yourself out!

I thought it turned out pretty cute for my first try.

As for THE scarf that went to the "friend" - it WAS gorgeous and he did send me a picture, but I am not sure he would want it posted on my blog...for all 3 of my readers to see.

Maybe there are others that have received a scarf that want to post it on their blog or send your mug shot to me and I will post it on here for ALL TO SEE!

happy HALF birthday to MEEE!

Happy HALF Birthday to MEEEEEEEE!

Ironically I just had HALF of a cupcake at Kelly's.  Technically I was using it to taste a new butter cream recipe, but still...it was HALFa cup cake for my HALFa birthday.

So, here are a few questions for me:

1.  What do I want to accomplish in the next 6 months BEFORE I turn 35?

2.  Holy crap...I'm going to be 35?

3.  Heather, this one is for you...where are we going?  35 is a big one...let's get the heck out of Dodge!

4.  Can I loose 35 pounds by my 35th birthday?  Hmmm...very interesting thought.

Charisse suggested I GIVE presents on my birthday, but I don't think that should happen until you're like 95...because by then you can just give all your stuff away, it's not like you'll need it in Heaven!

129th Temple: Draper Utah

The 129th temple is open...technically just for the open house, but will be dedicated in March.  I saw this article on NPR.org today and was so impressed that I just had to share (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=99175018&ps=bb4)

Our temple here in Atlanta is being renovated soon.  Won't we be wishing we had gone to the temple a lot more frequently when during this time we have to drive to Columbia, SC or Birmingham, AL!

Spring 2009 semester...

I just packed up my bag for school on Monday.  I have three classes, four books...my bag weighs 16 pounds.  Ouch!

Crafty Christmas presents...

I can FINALLY post about these very crafty Christmas presents I made for two fabulous friends because I FINALLY managed to give it to them!

Kelly saw this idea on line and we both feel in love.  I wanted to make them for everyone, but I figured this was NOT the sort of gift that would ship well, so I had to choose the two I thought would appreciate it most that live here in Atlanta.

The picture frame on the bottom left IS straight, it just looks crocked because it is leaning on something in the back of my messy Kia.

Aren't those SO cute!?  I can say that, not because I made them or came up with the idea, but they are just cute.  Basically we broke out the window panes we wanted and filled their space with the letter for their name and the frames.  The other window panes are painted with chalkboard paint...a new favorite of mine.  I would love to paint a wall with that stuff...Anne, that is a great idea for your new house!

Lisa & Chrissy, I hope you love them as much as I do.  Merry Christmas!

How to spend $1 and change at Ross and walk out a happy girl...

1.  Go shopping with mom and find a smok'n hot pair of heels one size too small.
2.  Buy them anyway because WHATEVER...like you would leave them there!?
3.  Try to wear said heels to church one day and return to your apartment to change because it was JUST too painful.
4.  Return to Ross (loves) and find a different pair of smok'n hot heels and exchange them for the other pair.
5.  Total price difference...$1 and change.

They are dark brown...so pretty!

How to spend $450 in 4.5 minutes...

1. Decide to take 18 credit hours this semester (12 is full time).
2.  Decide to buy all your books.
3.  Drive to The General Bookstore.
4. Give your class list to the guy in the blue shirt.

5. Take all of the books he gave you to the register and give them your plastic.
6. Come home $450 less...oh, but you have 6 USED books.

Go FIGHTING OWLS!

New Year...New Lease...Nesting...

There have been a few uncertainties in my life as of lately, but things seem to be (at least for now) on their way to normalcy.  Since normalcy is what I strive for and never seem to attain I decided "heck, why not resign my lease for another year?!" ...so I am.

Because of this I have decided "heck, why not finish the desk and get some real shelves for your "office"?!?"

For Christmas I told Kelly (who asked for Sarah, who asked for Eric) that I wanted another tall black shelf (from Wal to the Mart) to go with the other two I have in my living room.
They couldn't find the shelf (they are almost ALWAYS sold out) so he gave me this oober cute gift card.  Since then I have looked at (or had someone else look at) every Wal*Mart within a 20 mile radius or more, but to no avail.

Having (almost) given up on the shelf I decided to venture to Ikea tonight to see what I could find in the way of shelving and a better option for my oh so cluttered desk.  Ikea does have a similar shelf, but it is about $100, where the one from WM is only $30.  Yes, I know the value is reflected in the price, but I am on a budget!  Besides, I walked out of Ikea for $100 and bought a bunch of stuff (all of which I needed) including two of these gorgeous (and magic) shelves.  They will replace the shoe holder things I was trying to make a desk organizer.
Anyway, back to the story...if there is a story.  Tonight on my way home I go by the last Wal*Mart near me to see about that shelf.  No big surprise, they did not have it.  They did have 2 in the walnut whatever color and they were both opened and in bad shape...same as all the others I have seen.  My question is this...does someone purchasing this shelf not understand that is it what it is...you actually have to read the instructions (no matter how many of them you have put together in the past) and it will frustrate you more than ever imaginable!?  Well, it will...but it is what it is!

I was so frustrated by not finding the shelf (again) that I decided I would go home right that moment and hang my new shelves from Ikea and cover my door/desk.  But then I remembered I probably needed an electric drill to hang the shelves.  So I bought one!  John helped me pick the right one over the tele...thanks IV and I came home with a brand new black & orange Black & Decker + a level, gotta make sure they go up straight.

At home I have to remove everything from my door/desk and that took a small century.  Sadly it is all still sitting on my bed...what a mess!  Then I took the door into the living room and covered it with this fancy wanna be leather stuff...it looks great!

Next I tackle the shelves...take the plastic wrap off and start to read the instructions:

"Wall mounting of LACK wall shelf requires 5 screws or fittings (not included)."

It is pouring down rain.
It is 11:00 p.m.
Wal to the Mart is open 24 hours/day!
I'm off...again.  I want those shelves up darn it!

At Wal*Mart I figured I would pass by the furniture aisle just to see if they have my shelf in.  HOLY SMOKE!  It's there!  IT'S THERE!  I knew it wouldn't be...so much so that I didn't even get a buggy.  So I walk around the corner where I find the nicest WM associate who offers her buggy (it was only holding returns, she said) and the assistance of her muscles...Josh.  It was great, the box had never been open and there were TWO of them!  Had I not spent way too much money at Ikea and also purchased myself a Black & Decker today I would have bought them both...but my apartment is small and I need to focus on getting this finished in the next day so that when I start school (in 4 days) I will have a nice clean place to manage my 24 credits!

So why did I go to WM in the first place?  Aww yes, screws or fittings.  I walk across the way and find Lee, the most pleasant smelling 70 year old Wal*Mart associate ever!  And he was so nice!  He recommended the fancy Sheetrock screws and helped me choose the correct ones.  I know I should go into a stud, but I remembered from before that my apartment doesn't have any.  No really...we could not find one!  My apartment is a little old, so I'm not all that surprised.  Anyway, I bought the regular screws and the Sheetrock screws, just in case and off I went.

At the register the girl paged Josh again to help me put my new shelf in my car...so exciting!  Did I mention it is raining...has been raining a lot lately...might need to build an ark next.

So now the time is 12:40 a.m. and I am sitting in the middle of a very large mess in my bedroom.  My bed is covered with so much stuff I will likely sleep on the couch tonight.  I have never slept on the couch before...who would with a bed like mine?!  Anyway, it is well worth it to leave all that stuff right where it is.

You are probably wondering why the shelves aren't up and all the stuff isn't nicely organized on my desk and said shelves?  Well, I lined up my attachment piece and marked where to put in the Sheetrock screws...they just won't go in.  Not at least, without a lot of noise.  The wall I am pounding on only goes to my living room, but I know I would wake the neighbors and I don't want to do that.  So, I did what I could tonight and will have to get up bright and early in the morning to finish.  We'll see about the bright and early part, but either way I will have to finish tomorrow.

Needless to say, even though I didn't get the shelves up and my "office" organized, I am thrilled I am headed in that direction!  I did at least get the door/desk covered.

On a side note, another BIG purchase, but this one happened this past weekend...I bought my very first CROCK POT!

I know you can hardly contain yourself with all this excitement, but I am thrilled!  I have had to borrow one of these every time I want to make Velveeta Rotell stuff.  Or anything else that is yummy and takes time to cook.  So, now I have my very own.  I wanted one that was red, but black is my #2 go to color, so I'm OK with it.

Now, for all you mommies out there ~ send me recipes!  I know you read my blog...even though you ignore my pleading to post about yourself (except Elisabeth...thank you sweetie, it was so fun to read) this one you can not ignore!  I need fun things to cook in my new toy and preferable yummy things that will be great as left overs for the week of a busy college student!

Alrightythen, the time is 12:57 a.m. and I am plum tuckered out.  I must sleep...granted on the couch, but none the less.  Hey Heather, now I will know how comfortable (or uncomfortable) my couch is.  I sure hope it was comfortable for you all those times you slept on it.

nighty night!

p.s. tonight, as I do all these manly things with power tools and such...this is when I think about all those guys that don't like me because I'm independent.  Well guess what?  There is no one else around to hang the bloody shelves, is there?!  So get over it...learn to step up and ask a girl out on a date once in a blue moon and maybe you will find someone who will want you to take care of her.  Because although I love this sort of thing, I would gladly share in the load and let you fold the laundry and watch me as I make a mess out of our bedroom!

Acworth...

I just love downtown Acworth and they still have the Christmas lights up so I stopped tonight on my way home to take some pictures (I'll share just one):

I also took a few of Lake Acworth and I thought this one turned out pretty:

Speaking of pretty.  I was driving home so late tonight because I spent the evening with Sariah, Abbi & Jenna.  Sariah is such a great cousin and played with the girls all night long.  They even played dress up!

Claire went out with Mommy & Daddy on their date, but I managed to get this oober cute picture of her "grinning"...she is growing so much!

Happy New Year & all that jazzzzzz

I'm starting out 2009 by CALLING Y'ALL OUT!  Specifically the mom's, the ma'ma's, the mamasitas, the mothers...MOM's!  Have you ever actually READ your own blog?  I'm not saying, I'm just saying...can you PLEASE post something about YOU.  I love your babies and they ARE THE CUTEST BABIES IN THE WORLD, but my BFF/College Roomie/Old Friend/New Friend/Sister/Whoever you are ~ I have forgotten what you look like because you only post pictures about your children.  Again...I love them...they are great (esp my little humans) but I've got to do it.  You have officially been called out.  Now, go get your camera and take a self portrait and tell us a little something about YOU lately.  (thanks)

2nd: I was putting away Christmas this afternoon and you know when you are trying to tighten the wrapping paper a little more before storing it and you have your fingers around the paper at the top...you know.  Well, tonight I gave myself a paper cut.  Right there...between my pointer & naughty finger...ouch.  It hurts a smidge!

3rd: new years resolutions.  I'm still thinking about this and need to do so many things, but the one I have already decided on is too personal to share on here.  I'm thinking about these:

 - get organized & stay organized
 - 4.0 for all three semesters this year
 - read my scriptures 5x's a week
 - pray
 - unpack a few more boxes (this is a New January Resolution)

OK, that is all for now.  I'll be checking all of your blogs soon to see if you got the CALLING YOU OUT message...do it!
