Recently, a special edition print of the book Eclipse (by Stephanie Meyer) was released in stores. This special edition has some fun TEAM EDWARD & TEAM JACOB iron-on's and also the release of the cover of the next book in the series: Breaking Dawn. But more important than iron-on's and art work covers is the first chapter of this new book.
I had no intention of spending an unnecessary $14 on this special edition because I already have Eclipse and have already pre-ordered Breaking Dawn (due out Aug 2, 2008). But tonight when I was at Wal*Mart I saw this special edition on an end cap in the stationary department and was so tempted to toss it in my buggy. I picked it up to thumb through the book and check out the art work for Breaking Dawn when I found chapter 1...all the way at the end. I started reading and 10 minutes later I was finished with chapter 1.
Now I am even more excited for Aug 2...this is going to be a very long 61 days 22 hours and 40 minutes!

2008 Summer Semester: 1st Day Of Classes...
I know, I am drama...but the idea of surrendering my evenings yet again, for the greater good of higher education, was so daunting I cannot even describe my emotion as I drove into the west parking deck. It was like someone was pulling me (by my hair) and I was doing everything I could to run the other way. This calls for a LIST.
Things I LIKE about summer school:
1. there are actually open parking spots in the parking deck
2. my class has 21 registered students and 12 showed up. 12...HEAVEN!
3. classes are long, but professors typically don't keep you the entire time
4. classes are long, but they only last for 8 weeks
5. fewer students = fewer smokers polluting my air
Yeah, that's all I got. It does suck a huge rock that I am giving up my evenings, but it will pay off. IT WILL PAY OFF.
And tonight I learned something - something that I feel I should share, because everyone should learn something today.
Below are the percentages that your average person is impacted by speech/communication:
7% by WORDS
38% by VOICE
55% by NON-VERBALS
How crazy is that? It gets better...my professor (Liv - like Liv Tyler) (who I really like) talked about resumes and how on average an employer received 500 resumes for every job posting listed in the news paper. 500. Wow. Now I guess I know why I have not received any call backs.
She also suggested that instead of telling that potential employer how great you are, you should tell them why their company would benefit from your being a part of their team. And another reason I have not received any calls. I guess I need to redo that cover letter.
Okay, that is today's lesson. And the moral of the story is that, I forget that I like school when I have been away so long. I would simply like it better if it didn't occupy so much of my time, especially on summer nights...my favorite!

pick your own...
My friend Elizabeth posted on her blog about going to a pick your own farm to get strawberries and I thought that sounded like so much fun so I asked her about it. She sent me HERE (click).
I can't wait to find a farm to visit and learn how to make preserves and all that. I know we are running out of "season" for some things, but I am also back in school tonight, so the reality of me doing anything but enjoying a few fresh berries is far fetched until I graduate.
Anyway...I wanted to share so everyone could enjoy the pick your own farms and so that the farms can get business to keep them up & running.

...to bid adieu
On this the eve of the first day of the 2008 summer semester I must bid adieu to the brief, but oh so lovely three week "vacation" I took from classes. I realized this week that I have done a poor, poor job keeping up with my blog while I have been on this break from classes, and for that I apologize. Some of you have mentioned it and I know you must be bored if you check in with my silly blog to keep entertained. I will certainly try to do better, although no promises, especially since I am walking into a semester of 9 credit hours. That's a summer semester of 9 credit hours...that's a lot.
To pay tribute to Charisse and her reminder of how much I LOVE a good list, I feel this calls for just such a thing.
List #1: Things I did NOT get accomplished while on summer break
1. Go through boxes sitting on the other side of my bed. Yes, these boxes have been moved from apartment to apartment never having seen the light of day. I have NO idea what lay ahead of me there.
2. Go through closet. It is a sad day when you have to bribe your nieces (thank you Madeline & Sariah) with money to help you hang up the clothes that have created an unnatural rug on the floor - but worse yet is that putting them on hangers and back in the closet does not mean that they are worn any more or fit any better. Time to give to Goodwill.
3. Finish kitchen table. Oh bother...what can I say that has not been said before? This table was a much loved hand-me-down from Kelly McIver and it is a great contribution to my furniture, but a few years ago I tried to strip it so I could stain it. What I ended up doing was making a mess and now I have a multi-colored table and some great table clothes to cover it up. High hopes for that table, high hopes I tell ya.
4. Clean out all of last semesters paper work and garbage from backpack and shelf. Yeah...sad, school starts tomorrow and I can still see the old papers lining the shelf to my right. I am sure that it will get taken care of tonight before I get to bed...or maybe this weekend.
5. Inventory cake goods/clean out/straighten up cake area in kitchen closet: So this is an avalanche of baking pans waiting to happen, right here in the middle of my kitchen. I am guessing I can stack a few more pans up there before they all come tumbling down.
6. Clean bathroom. I need a maid.
7. RELAX. I just don't think I know how anymore.
8. Get a new job.
Okay, now for list #2: Things I DID accomplish while on summer break:
1. Reread Twilight, New Moon & Eclipse (love love love and I can't wait for book #4)
2. Started another book (key is that this book also had nothing to do with school)
3. Go to the temple a few times. This is more difficult that I ever thought it would be while in school. When your evenings are occupied beyond your own control, it really limits the time you can spend doing things you actually WANT to do.
4. Sleep. Not a lot, just a little. As a matter of fact, very little. I don't remember another Saturday since the first one after finals when I actually slept in, so I hope that was sufficient enough to get me through, because there is no turning back now.
5. Visit with family. I don't really get much of a chance during school and I am sure they got really sick of me hanging around, but I really enjoyed it.
Okay, so I didn't really get THAT much done, but it is what it is. So now I must bid adieu to the summer break that was relatively non-existent as I embark on yet another semester of school at KSU!

New Di-Cuts @ TRAC
Tonight I was at TRAC (Teacher Resources & Activity Center) at Kennesaw State (yes, I was there even though I am on break). I was there working on a personal project...anyway. I just love all the di-cut's they have and some new ones recently arrived. I just flipped over this one and how cute it is! I have no idea what I would use it for, but I just had to di-cut it while I was there.Saturday, May 10, 2008
In Memory of Scarlett...
Scarlett died.
Rhett is lonely and won't come out from under the rock.
In lieu of flowers please send your condolences written on $100 bills.
This is why I should not have pets.

Mother's Day give away
This week at work there was a drawing for a Mother's Day gift. I went ahead and registered, even though my children are two tiny turtles. I figured that just because I have not found MY prince charming and my shoe is so empty I don't know what to do, that should not stop me!Well, guess what...I won!
$25 gift cards to K-Roger, Race Trac and AmEx. How cool is that?!
Happy Mother's Day...even to those who are not "mothers".

Cloverfield...2 thumbs DOWN!
I just wasted the last 84 minutes of my life watching the most irritating movie of all time:
What About Bob and Groundhog Day are still on my Top 5 Worst Movies Ever Made List, but now this movie, Cloverfield, has topped the charts. Have you ever been forced to watch someone's home movie?
Someone who could not hold the video camera still?
Well, THAT is exactly what this movie was like.
EXACTLY.
I can't get back those lost 84 minutes, but I can certainly help you to avoid making the same mistake I made.
Baskin Robbins
Co-founder of Baskin Robbins Irvin Robbins passed away Monday.

I think we should all go eat ice cream at Baskin Robbins in his memory!

Lisa Surprise Babyshower
This past weekend Elisabeth (+2), Lisa and myself enjoyed a quiet trip to Ellijay.
Lisa didn't know it, but I had contacted all of our (amazing) bff's and planned a little surprise baby shower. Everyone pitched in and I did the shopping (since they are all so far away). Here are the pictures of cute Lisa and her presents.

Heather sent it to me, and generally speaking, she is a rock, so I will go with it's true over it's false.
(Get on with it already...what is true!?!)
The following Companies Have Just filed Bankruptcy:
